The Roman Empire experienced very steady and turbulent leaders during its time period. Many of the emperors were not chosen because of their ability and honesty but, because there were next in line from their own families. But, Rome did not become a empire over night, it was all because of the power of one man. That being Julius Caesar.
During a time when there was tension between the Senate and popular political leaders wanting a reform, disfunction began to break out. There was a sudden rise in slave and outbreaks of revolts against the areas that Rome controlled. There was a change in the military from citizen-soldiers, or being loyal to Rome, to there being professional armies or being loyal to their commander and with that, the commanders would begin to fight each other for power! During this period, there were two important Generals by the names of Pompey and Caesar. Caesar begin to win a lot of battles and begin to take over more land then Pompey. With that in mind, Pompey ordered that Caesar disband his army and return back to Roman but Caesar being the man he is, ignored his command! Caesar and his army crossed over the Rubicon River with his army and stared a war, that he won!
With that win, he forces the Senate to make him a dictator for L I F E and at the time dictators were used only for a short amount of time. At that point, Rome changes from Republic to EMPIRE!

There were three main social classes in the Roman Empire, the Patricians, Plebeians, and Slaves. The Patricians were considered the wealthy and those families that were part of the senate and land owners. The Plebeians were the modern-day middle class to lower class. It included everyone in Rome except for the Patricians from the tradesman to the very, very poor. Finally the slaves, they were labors for the public building and working for nothing. One thing you should know is if you were born a Plebeian, you can NEVER become a Patrician. Sad right? but it was true, you were born into being a Patrician. These are the three main social classes in the Roman Empire, which class do you think you would fit in?
Christianity was said to be spread by Paul around the Roman Empire! Known as Paul the Apostle, he originally persecuted Christians and looked down upon them until a vision from Jesus came to him while he was on a journey. It spoke to him saying that Christianity was God's call to the entire world and he begin to spread the teachings. He transformed from the greatest persecutor of all time the greatest missionary of Christianity.
